Return to the Hebrides: A Lewis Summer

It’s been four days since we returned from the Isle of Lewis,a just over 700 mile journey from Kent.In all honesty it feels a bit like returning from another planet. The weather for our trip was a bit mixed meaning that for some nights we even had to put the heating on! Heating and July were two words I never thought I’d see in the same sentence. However Lewis is one of those rare places which holds beauty even in stormy weather. In fact I almost think it looks better…more rugged and majestic. The quality of light and the colours here are so unique and clear.

Highlights of my time were kayaking out to the blue lagoon, seeing some stunning natural arches and eating freshly dived scallops from the pier at Miavaig.
